What subjects do you tutor?

I specialize in Biology (all levels), Human Biology, Chemistry & Physics up to GCSE/N5, and IB SEHS (Sports, Exercise and Health Science).

What qualifications do you have?

I hold a Ph.D. in Immunology, a First-Class Honours BSc in Physiology, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Biology with Science). I also have training as an SQA Marker and IB Internal Assessment Supervisor. See About for more details.

Do you only tutor students in the UK?

Not at all! I tutor online, so I can work with students anywhere in the world. My schedule includes availability for different time zones.

How much do sessions cost?

Sessions start from £40/hour. I offer custom packages and discounts for multiple sessions or siblings.

How are lessons delivered?

All lessons are delivered online via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. I use digital whiteboards, shared documents, and interactive activities to keep lessons engaging and clear.

What if I have additional support needs?

I’m committed to providing a supportive learning environment for all students. If you have specific needs, please let me know so we can tailor our sessions accordingly. As a practicing teacher I have had extensive experience working with students with additional support needs, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, and autism.

Have you been vetted?

Yes! I have a current PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) certificate, which is required for working with children and vulnerable adults in Scotland.

Are you registered with any professional bodies?

Yes, I am a member of the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).

When is the best time to start tutoring?

The best time to start tutoring is whenever you feel you need extra support! Whether you’re preparing for an exam, catching up after illness, or just want to boost your confidence in science, I’m here to help. The earlier we start, the more time we have to work together and achieve your goals.

What age groups do you work with?

I work with students aged 10 to 18+, including those preparing for GCSE/N5, Higher, Advanced Higher, IB, and A-Level.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions are typically 1 hour long, but I can adjust the duration based on your needs. Just let me know what works best for you!

How often should we meet?

The frequency of sessions depends on your goals and schedule. Some students prefer weekly sessions, while others may prefer bi-weekly or monthly. We can discuss what works best for you during our initial consultation.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

I understand that life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give me at least 24 hours’ notice. I’ll do my best to accommodate your needs.

Do you do face-to-face tutoring?

Yes, if in the West of Scotland area I can offer face-to-face tutoring. Please contact me for more details.

Can you help with exam preparation?

Absolutely. I offer tailored support for SQA (N5, Higher, AH), IB, and A-Level exams, including coursework coaching and scientific writing.

How should I prepare for a tutoring session?

I recommend having any relevant materials (textbooks, notes, past papers) ready. If you have specific topics or questions in mind, please share them in advance so we can make the most of our time together.
